Over the years, I've worked in a myriad of media such as digital and as a traditional
printmaker. I've found a deep love in painting and drawing and tend towards traditional
media as I prefer the tactile, sensory appeal. Wood speaks to me on a visceral level
and I'm truly happy using it as a painting surface and allowing the wood grain to give
it's own grace to the work. It is form in it's natural simplicity and I find more and more
I want to let it shine. My art could best be described as a mix of fantasy, nostalgia,
and deep, personal experiences. I do prefer portraits, as you get close to the character
as you would a friend sharing secrets. For me, form and aesthetic tends to be as
important as theme. I’ve been influenced a lot by stories and fairy tales and poster
lithographs, especially the 1900’s illustration and woodblock eras from Western and
Eastern printing. Game art such as Square-Enix and graphic artists and film artists
such as Miyazaki.
