My name is Ryan Avery. My grandmother has boxes of old photos in her house that have info about
what/who is in the photos written on the back. I love them. One day when I was going through a box
I realized the photos just stop suddenly in the early 2000's. It makes sense I guess, everyone started
buying digital cameras and then cell phones and now everything is online. Sometime in 2010 or 2011
my friend Dave Driscoll (who is also an amazing photographer- https://davedriscoll.wordpress.com/)
lost roughly 2 years of photos because his computer crashed or his camera broke or something. Since
that point I have felt a real state of urgency to take photos on disposable cameras that I keep with me all
the time. When I finish a roll (which usually takes a few months) I get it developed, scan the photos and
put the prints in a big box. I take photos of things, animals, people and places that feel important to
me at the time. I like taking candid photos the most. Sometimes I will hand my disposable camera to
someone that I like and ask them to take photos of things that feel important to them too and I
usually like the results.
