Artist statement:
By day I'm a wife and mother of four. I live in Scottsdale and have just recently started showing my work in art shows. I have always done painting in my free time, and now enjoy taking commissions. Art is my outlet, my saving grace, and my sanctuary. My work is my humble attempt to follow what I feel called to do; to say the things I feel called to say. If one person sees it and connects with it, I have done my job.

I use real people and places as inspiration, only I make them more magical rather than realistic. That's all.

Day 245: Tony Rosano
My art is both objective and subjective. It's objective because I use objects, and subjective because I subject people to look at it. Most of the objects used are doll parts, but I also use wood, metal, expanding foam, dead animals, lights and motors. If I sell enough of my art, I'm hoping to freeze my head when I die, and someday have it attached to the body of a chicken.

Day 243: Margarete Beeson
Margarete Beeson aka Felt Phoenix - a Local Arizona maker of things and curator for over 15 years.
I have a variety of artistic interests such as wood burning, felted wool fiber art, murals, toy and found object collage, and more. My work is inspired by nature, childhood, Fantasy-Scifi, and vividness of life.
I have curated dozens of community art shows around the US, such as the Toy Art Show, The Blankety-Blank Show, the Postcard Art Project, Creatures, and more. Many of the art shows I have curated have helped new artists make their professional start in their community. Bringing together a variety of artists and showing many different sides of art has always been rewarding and fun.
The Burning Man community has been an enormous eye opening experience that makes art seem limitless, I have been fortunate enough to have supportive art-filled friends helping me through projects such as murals, giant burnable sculpture, and illuminating mushroom forests throughout the years.

Day 242: Maria Lee
These are five images from "The Shape of Loss", a series of monotype prints combining relief, stencil, image transfer, gouache and graphite. The work tells the story of loss through the lens of childhood memory and adult grief.
My father died of cancer when he was only 40, I was 8. Last summer I dreamt a rare dream of my father. He and I were flying together. My eyes were closed and the sensation was so lucid and visceral (Flying with eyes closed). The emergence of memories tied to loss is ever present and difficult. The print Onion is symbolic, "peeling back the layers" as it makes you cry, the work it takes to delve into one's past.
The whale appears throughout the series. It represents guidance and protection. The piece Breach was the last print in the series and represents breaking through, breaking out but ultimately it is about freedom.
