Day 152: Nancy Troupe

My early memories are filled with images of being sprawled out on my bedroom floor surrounded with crayons and coloring books.  School years were filled with art competitions, local and state-wide.  As a young adult, I sold my work on La Cienega and Melrose 

in Los Angeles, I taught after school programs for kids, and adult classes at a local art studio in the San Fernando Valley.

During the "family" years, while raising 3 kids in Oregon, I stayed home to do t-shirt designs (some for the World Wildlife Fund), business logos, and free-lance design work for various companies.  Throughout my childrens' school years, I was active in their school art adventures, and enjoyed painting the backdrop scenery for many a school play.  My love for painting large grew from  that, and I eventually started my own mural business when we moved to Arizona.

Day 151: Ruth Kyanite

Ruth "Truth" Kyanite 

      

        Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1980 as Caitlin T. Petre. Truth has been creating art since she was a young child. Winning her first Art Award at the age of 8 at Hyde Park Elementary in 1988. Winning a city wide art award in 1992 with a pencil drawing of a classmate. In 1996 Truth started to concentrate on still life pencil drawings as well as attending various art classes through her teenage years.

        Truth attended classes for Ceramics, Pottery, Bead-Working, Wire-wrapping, Quilting and Doll making in Cincinnati. Truth also studied Art through The Strattford Career Institute in 2002 and 2003, taking classes in Drawing, Pastels, Watercolors and Acrylics.  At the age of 26, Truth started to concentrate on figure drawing and Pin-up Art and soon moved to creating her own style of pin-up fairy art.

        In 2010 Truth moved out of Cincinnati and began to travel while working on her Art and Jewelry full time. Visiting 30 states in 5 years with her two young boys who love Art almost as much as she does.

        Finally making Yuma, AZ her home and creating Fairy Happy Jewelry and Art in 2016. Truth has paintings in private collections in multiple states, The Millet House Art Gallery in Mesa, AZ and The Yuma Art Center in Yuma, AZ

I have been traveling for 6 years making jewelry and art, but Have Started a NEW life in Yuma, AZ in 2016 after leaving a very abusive relationship.

     My new partner Mitzvah is helping me in creating and developing Fairy Happy as well as using our art to bring domestic violence awareness and Womens Empowerment to anyone who wants to make the future brighter.

Day 150: Aaron Fink

My name is Aaron Fink, and I love photography. My passion for photography came as 
somewhat of a surprise. I started out simply wanting to take better pictures. I ended up spending years
studying photography in every way I could. I took ALL the community college courses relating to 
photography, including the history of photography, I took the advanced levels of photo classes
 multiple times. I even built my own darkroom, quickly my simple hobby was more than an obsession.
  I work in both digital and film photography, I am not particular as to what I am shooting, I just enjoy 
the photographic work. Photography gives the artist a lot of freedom, there is always another technique, 
composition tool, color theory, or process that can be used to make a photograph more interesting.
 These days my photography is limited by the amount of time I have, but I still make time to schedule

Day 149: Rhonda Hitchcock-Mast

Rhonda Hitchcock-Mast is an artist, singer / songwriter, and graphic designer. She is also the 
Vice President of Chicks With Picks Foundation (chickswithpicks.org) — which helps female 
singer/songwriters with their music/craft and then in turn "the chicks”, help those in need through
 music. Creativity doesn’t stop there, within the last few years she helped pen a self published children’s 
book with her husband. Being creative and helping people — makes her happy. Mrs. Hitchcock-Mast
 received her degree in visual communicationsand has been doing art, art directing, designing, performing,
 fundraising and consulting for many years. Recently some of her repurposed artwork has been lucky 
enough to be featured in several local businesses,art shows, galleries and it got a mention in the 
Phoenix New Times (repurposemepretty.com). She is now owner and instructor for Easel For You To
Paint Party (easelforyoutopaint.com) that is hosted regularly at the Farm at South Mountain
and private parties! Mrs. Hitchcock-Mast really loves helping and creating with everyone!

Day 148:Albert Morales

I've been working in and around comics for about 12-13 yrs and have a degree in graphic design. I've been fortunate enough to help and support the HERO INITIATIVE on several of their different publications such as Wolverine 100, Fantastic Four 100, , New Avengers 100,  Walking Dead 100, Hellboy 100, TMNT 100. I am an official sketch card artist for MARVEL /UPPERDECK and have worked this past year on CAPTAIN AMERICA 75th ANNIVERSARY, MARVEL GEMS, FLEER ULTRA SPIDER-MAN, and am currently working on MARVEL PREMIER for the company.  

I'm also currently running BIG TIME FUNNIES - a Phoenix based newspaper comprised of several comic strip artists, as well as writing and drawing my own strip SUPER IMPACTO VS. THE WORLD.

Day 147: Jamie Korb

Current Icehouse artist, Jamie 'Von' Korb,  returned to Phoenix, January 2014, from twenty years in the New York City area.  

My connection to Phoenix started after spending my childhood in Wisconsin. This is where the family influence exposed me to art in forms of centrifugal casting and silversmith benchwork. 
 Ten years of living in the Sonoran desert,  restlessness set in.  With the help of a friend, I went to 'find' myself in New York city. 

New York city and The Hudson River valley were my stomping grounds for two decades!

  Often visiting the Jasper Cropsey Foundation, just steps away from home,  I was overwhelmed with the  historical collection of the Hudson River Artists. That, just one facet of inspiration to draw the Hudson River and staunch New Jersey Palisades.  So many wonderful artistic influences in the city:  Working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, exploring  art collections, be it gallery,  museums,  or local art festivals,  I was immersed in the cultural capital of the world.  Volunteer work as an artist in residence  at St Barts for ten years , so rewarding to share what i know as an artist to children.  

Bracelets and earrings made with crystals and semi prescious stones are easy to make while traveling.    

After twisting soldering styles,  and, trading small semi precious stones for textured and colored glass,  my small jewelery transformed into  larger 'window jewelry' in 1996, after completing a stained glass class at SUNY Purchase. 

Winning a juried competition, in 2009, I was a Guest Artist at Degrazia museum in Tucson.  This opportunity inspired me to create a 'Stations of the Cross' series of abstract stained glass crosses. 

Abstract Botanical pieces followed the Stations of the Cross series.  

Photography is another form of art that captures my delight.   I find myself drawing whimsical treehouses too.

Internationally collected, with over one hundred shows and commissions,  I continue the creative quest in the brilliance of Phoenix Arizona.

Day 146:Travis Rice

Travis Rice is an artist currently residing in Tempe, AZ where he is finishing an MFA in drawing and painting at Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Originally from Elkhart, IN, he initially studied design at Ball State University where he received a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture. Influenced by his background in architecture his work incorporates 3D modeling to create complex hard edge compositions that give an illusion of space through both form and materiality. His work is currently included in the exhibit “Abstraction in the Singular” at Bentley Gallery as well as a solo exhibit, “Fodderland, at Step Gallery, both in Phoenix, AZ.
