Day 101: Karyn Vampotic

I took my first drawing class three and a half years ago post-retirement as a trial attorney for the State of Arizona.  I’ve found that I love to express my joy in the natural world through line, color and texture.

Pastel (used extensively by impressionist painter, Edgar Degas) provides a vibrant pathway for  that expression with its dazzling colors that can be applied in layers, in broken color strokes - side by side- and offers maximum flexibility as it can be used on watercolor paper, velour paper, printer’s paper or gritted sheets.  My goal is to perhaps provide a different way for viewers to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us in the Sonoran Desert.
